Service Description

Basic Literacy and Emerging Reader Skills. ( PreK, Kindergarten, 1st ) As a certified Early Childhood Educator with a Master's Degree is Curriculum and Teaching in Early Childhood Education as well as a Bachelors Degree in Early Childhood Psychology I worked to create a program that helps our youngest readers find the joy in reading. As a teacher I was recognized for taking young readers performing below grade level (often 3 grades below) and getting them to grade level by the end of the year. My personal source of pride stems not from this data but rather because not only did these students perform better, they (more importantly) began to love to read! Through the use of games, hands-on activities, and interactive play/performances we work to weave in sight words, phonics, guided reading strategies, and vocabulary to foster a love of reading. These sessions are taught in small group settings of up to 6 kids. More time slots can be added if necessary.
